On Saturday, October 10th hundreds of runners and walkers will converge upon the Clayton County International Park to participate in the annual Lake Spivey Road Race. Turns out this event is more than just a Saturday morning workout, it raises funds for two local organizations who have a long history of contributing to Henry and Clayton counties. This year’s event will raise funds to support The Kids Outdoor Initiative and Southern Regional NICU.
Every year Kids Outdoor Initiative provides a scholarship for 24 area children to travel to Jekyll Island, Ga for a 3 day outdoor adventure. Southern Regional will use the funds to provide the necessary round-the-clock care for premature infants.
“Events like the Road Race offer a cohesive approach to community building while benefiting some of the much needed organizations that offer resources to our community at large”, says Robert Payne of the Lake Spivey Community, Inc.
So, dust off those sneakers, set the alarm for ‘early’ and come out to support this worthy cause! See you there!
